At Thomastik-Infeld, we don’t make any "all-purpose" guitar strings. Instead, we build highly engineered, specialty products that fulfill specific needs. For acoustic players, that means our Spectrum Bronze and Plectrum strings.

The Spectrum Bronze strings are superior performance strings, optimized for studio and stage use. They’re engineered for warm clarity and full frequency reproduction and designed to sit well in the mix with other instruments.

Just like our fine orchestral strings, the Spectrums have a fabric or " silk" inlay between the core and the windings. This technology has been proven to reduce "off-color" harmonics, by favoring the even-order harmonics that sound more complementary and musical.

The Plectrum strings have a warmer, softer tone that is reminiscent of a classical guitar. They’re specifically engineered for situations where a mellower sound is desirable. Plectrums also feature low string tension, which can prolong the life of valuable vintage instruments.

Plectrums also feature Thomastik-Infeld’s silk inlay construction for more musical harmonics and overtones. And both Plectrum and Spectrum sets feature treble strings made of brass-plated steel, a costly method that extends string life significantly.

Whether you choose the Spectrums with round wound bass strings, or mellower Plectrums with hybrid round wound-flat wound sets, you’ll be getting the longest lasting, most musical strings available. Austrian precision doesn’t just mean engineering accuracy — it sounds good too!
