Singe 1919, Thomastik-Infeld has been producing fine orchestral and fretted instrumental strings in our Vienna factory. And we’ve learned a thing or two about it.

Our three Classic string series show off our experience well. Every set has been precision-engineered and exhaustively tested until we were satisfied that they fulfilled our intentions — and lived up to your musical expectations as well.

The Classic C series provides an upscale alternative to nylon. The treble strings are made of a proprietary high density, ultra stable synthetic fiber that resists stretching and deformity (see lower cutaway). The fiber core also lets them stay tuned much longer than ordinary strings, with better intonation due to improved consistency. The bass strings are round wound silver-plated copper.

The Classic N nylon-core series comes with a choice of bass (wound) string styles — either silver-plated copper roundwound, or chrome steel flat wound. They deliver a clear, warm sound with heavy-duty construction for lasting durability.

Finally the Classic S series crosses the line between steel string bright and fiber core mellow, with low tension for your valuable classical guitar. The Classic S Precisions are soft steel-core strings with highly polished windings, perfect for concert, finger style and folk guitarists. The Classic S Rope Core feature a hybrid core of fiber and woven steel strands. For exceptional articulation and sustain. Either choice gives you with a sparkling clear, full-frequency tone that’s ideal for studio recording or stage performance.
