Strangely enough, it seems that our strings are never used by beginning players. As we talk with our customers, we find that almost all are working professionals.

That makes sense when you consider how we design our products. Rather than create "all-purpose" strings for every playing situation, we focus on making specialized strings to fill specific needs. For electric guitarists, that means our Power-Brights and Sliders series.

Power-Brights are precisely what their name implies. They deliver bright, cutting tone — and they measurably produce more power than other strings. That’s because of our proprietary Magnecore winding technology. Most electric guitar strings utilize nickel or stainless steel windings over a steel core. Since only the core is magnetically reactive, their windings make no contribution to the signal at the pickups. But Magnecore windings are made of high-carbon steel, then plated with nickel. It’s a costly process, but it yields a string with a measurably higher gain output at the pickup. And higher gain means a better signal-to-noise ratio. Power-Brights are also perfect for heavy effects users, or for long signal paths where dropoff could be a problem.

Sliders are our "mellow blues" strings. They feature a fabric or "silk" inlay between the pure nickel windings and steel core. This technology, borrowed for our fine orchestral strings, reduces off-color harmonics and favors the more musical even-order harmonics. The result is warm, vintage "tube amp"-type tone combined with round wound clarity. Try it with a slide, or boost your overdrive just that much higher, and you’ll see why these Sliders were built to cry the blues.
